Tell us about your role in Kenyon
I’m currently the Office & Client Relations Manager with Kenyon. I work closely with our clients in the Middle East, Africa and Indian Sub-continent. Ensuring reliable communication with our clients’ safety and quality teams, and that their requirements are being met with regards to inquiries, training and consultancy, audit and contracts.
How did you get into disaster management and emergency planning?
I started with supporting different projects and initiatives related to aviation. I was fascinated by the efforts and cooperation between the different organisations, providers, and air operators for the purpose of enhancements and developments in many areas such as safety, security, commercial policies, and regulatory matters.
Why is it important for aviation organisations/airlines to have an emergency response plan (ERP)?
Disaster management is a complex and ongoing process which requires planning and coordinating efforts in order to prepare for, respond to and recover from. Preparedness is key along with cooperation and coordination from all parties involved. It is also required by regulation, and let us not forget that it is the right thing to do.
What have been your highlights of your disaster management journey so far?
Disaster management is a collaborative approach between all stakeholders. The more you are engaged with clients the more they will be prepared to deal with a disaster. That is what keeps me going and brings peace to my mind when I see how clients benefit from the Kenyon experience.
What advice would you give to women who want to start a career in emergency response planning in aviation?
